Nagpur, is a bustling metropolis in the heart of India often known as the "Orange City," due to its flourishing very good quality of orange cultivation. As the third-largest city in Maharashtra, it serves as a crucial political and commercial hub, offering a vibrant mix of tradition and modernity. Nagpur's well-structured urban infrastructure is a result of its strategic location as India's geographical center, facilitating seamless connectivity through an extensive network of roads, railways, and airports. Its central location, marked by the Zero Mile Stone, makes Nagpur a strategic point for travel and commerce across the country. The convergence of key national highways, NH 6 and NH 7 and well connected with Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg (Mumbai Nagpur Expressway) significantly contributes to the city's accessibility and connectivity. A very good transportation facility is available through Nagpur Metro, City Road transport etc. Well-connected places nearby Nagpur and within city are recognised for tourist attractions. According to an Oxford's Economics report, Nagpur is projected to be the fifth fastest growing city in the world from 2019 to 2035 with an average growth of 8.41%. Nagpur is the seat of the annual winter session of the Maharashtra state assembly. It is a major commercial and political centre of the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Nagpur was awarded as the best city for innovation and best practice in Swachh Sarvekshan 2018. The city also ranked 25th in Ease of Living index 2020 among 111 cities in India. It was ranked the 8th most competitive city in the country by the Institute for Competitiveness for the year 2017.


Nagpur is also called the Tiger Capital of India or the Tiger Gateway of India as many tiger reserves are located in and around the city and also hosts the regional office of National Tiger Conservation Authority. Tiger reserves such as  Pench Tiger Reserve and Tadoba National Park  are the tiger reserves which are located near the city. The city has its own reserved forest area and zoological garden at Gorewada. Futala Lake is the world's second largest Lighting and Musical fountain available for public shows. Nagpur is paradise for birdwatchers and photographers. As many as 350 different species have been recorded in and around the city.  Nagpur boasts many religious structures that hold importance for differing religious beliefs. Deekshabhoomi and  Dragon Palace are graded an A-class tourism and pilgrimage site, the largest hollow stupa among all the Buddhist stupas in the world. The most famous temple in Nagpur is  Tekdi Ganesh Mandir , and is said to be one of the Swayambhu ("self-manifested") temples in the city. Other prominent religious structures include  Ramtek Fort Temple  at Ramtek, Ganpati Temple located near Savner in Vidarbha, Shri Mahalaxmi Devi temple of Koradi and Shri Shantinath Digambar Jain Mandir at  Ramtek are important Hindu temples. Also, the famous Muslims shrine (dargah) of Tajuddin Muhammad Badruddin is at Tajabad, Nagpur. The city also has some museums which are Nagpur Central Museum and Narrow Gauge Rail Museum. Raman Science Centre is a premium Science Centre of Central India, that has of late become a must see feature on the city's tourist landscape with many scientific experimental edutainment installations which also has a planetarium and a unique facility called the Science on a Sphere inside.
